BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP
Membership of the Association is open to anyone involved in
the study of cytology or allied subjects. All members receive
twice yearly copies of the Association's journal, SCAN, which
keeps members informed of current issues and trends within the
field of cytology. Continuing professional development is already
mandatory for state registered professionals, and will inevitably
become a requirement for cytology screeners when they join the
regulated professions. As part of your membership rights, you
are eligible to register with the Continuing Education Certificate
(CEC) scheme free of charge, and your CEC records will form
a key part of the evidence you use to demonstrate your fitness
to practice.
The website will have a members' only section which will keep
you up to date with all the latest developments within cytology.
In addition to many other benefits, you will have access to
summaries of NAC business meetings as evidence of the work that
the Executive officers do on your behalf. The secure forum will
enable you to become involved in lively debates on all things
cytological and professional, and provides another mechanism
for you to communicate with the Executive
PREFERENTIAL RATES
All members are invited to attend the annual scientific meeting
(ASM) at preferential rates. The NAC ASM continues to provide
an excellent scientific programme, workshops, extensive trade
show and lively social events. The ASM provides an opportunity
for members to share opinions, experiences and concerns with
like-minded people who care about the job they perform, their
career and the future of the profession. It also provides a
opportunity for members to contribute to decisions on constitutional
issues.
The NAC is a non-profit making organization and all surplus
funds go back into the Association to serve you, the members.
One such opportunity is the bursary scheme for continuing education.
The NAC is able to provide financial assistance for members
to attend cytology events that they would not otherwise be able
to afford. Funding is available to support registration fees
and/or travel expenses
REGISTRATION FEE
The annual subscription fee is £30.00 (trainees £10.00), plus £40 for an overseas member, due on 1st April each year. Individuals who register from January of any year will not be required to pay the annual subscription fee until April of that year. This represents excellent value for money at less than 9p per day - what other Association provides all the above at such a low cost!
WHO CAN JOIN?
Membership of the NAC is open to all who have an interest in cytology. Members include cytology screeners, biomedical scientists and pathologists. We all share a common interest in promoting high standards within our professions, and a growing membership underlines the desire for such an Association.
